Understand the Body.
Master the Adjustment.

A good adjustment can change a student's practice forever. A poor one can cause injury, erode trust, and leave a teacher doubting themselves. The difference lies not in how bold you are — but in how well you understand what you're working with.

Beyond the Asana is an intensive 50-hour training dedicated entirely to the art of adjustment. Over five focused days in Ubud, you'll develop a deep understanding of the main posture families, the anatomy behind them, and the hands-on skills to guide your students into safer, smarter, more embodied movement.

This is not about forcing bodies into shapes. It's about reading what's there, knowing what's possible, and offering the exact touch — or word — that opens the door.

Who This Is For

For Teachers Who Want to
Touch with Intention

The New Teacher

You just finished your YTT and feel overwhelmed translating all that anatomy knowledge into actual hands-on adjustments in a real class. This training bridges that gap — from theory to confident, grounded touch.

The Online-Trained Teacher

Your YTT was done online, which means the hands-on adjustment component was completely skipped. You're starting from zero with no reference point for what a good adjustment even feels like. This is where you build that foundation.

The Anatomy-Curious Teacher

You want to understand what's actually happening in each posture — the structure, the joints, the limits — so you can adjust from genuine understanding rather than imitation.

What You'll Learn

Five Days.
One Skill Set.

01

Understanding the Posture

Before you can adjust anything, you need to understand what you're looking at. We start with a deep dive into the anatomy and biomechanics of the main posture families.

  • Posture families — standing, seated, forward folds, backbends, inversions, twists
  • Key muscle groups and joint actions in each family
  • Common misalignments and their root causes
  • What "good alignment" actually means for different bodies
02

Hands-On Adjustment Technique

The practical core of the training. You'll learn specific adjustment techniques for the main postures — with an emphasis on sensitivity, economy of effort, and student safety.

  • Touch quality — firm, light, directive, supportive
  • Body mechanics for the adjuster — protecting yourself too
  • Adjustments for standing, seated and supine postures
  • When to adjust and when to use verbal cues instead
03

Consent, Safety & Ethics

Hands-on adjustment is not about pushing or pulling — it's about building coordination with the practitioner. We cover the full ethical framework of touch in a modern, trauma-informed context.

  • The difference between a good touch and a bad touch
  • Asking for and receiving consent — practical approaches
  • Trauma-informed touch — what it means and why it matters
  • Building a culture of safety and trust in your classroom
04

Teaching Practice & Peer Feedback

Knowledge becomes skill through repetition. A significant portion of this training is dedicated to hands-on practice with structured peer feedback.

  • Supervised adjustment practice sessions
  • Peer feedback frameworks — giving and receiving
  • Building a personal adjustment vocabulary
  • Real-time guidance from Ankit throughout

No. Whether you currently adjust regularly or have never adjusted a student, this training meets you where you are and builds from the ground up.
While the postures are taught through a Vinyasa lens, the adjustment principles and anatomy knowledge apply to all styles. Hatha, Yin and other teachers are welcome.
You'll be practicing and receiving adjustments throughout the day. A regular personal practice is helpful, though you don't need to be advanced. Comfort in a Vinyasa class is sufficient.
