When people look through our 300-hour curriculum, the two workshops that get the most questions aren't the anatomy module or the philosophy hours — they're Acro Yoga and Thai Yoga Massage. Neither is standard in most teacher trainings, and neither is really about asana. Here's why we included them anyway.
Acro Yoga — Trust, Base, and Flyer
Acro Yoga is partner practice — one person as base, one as flyer, built entirely around communication, spotting, and trust between the two. It looks physically impressive, but the actual skill being built isn't strength or flexibility. It's clear, constant verbal communication under a bit of physical stakes, and learning to read another person's body signals in real time. Those are exactly the skills you need as a teacher giving a hands-on adjustment to a student you've never touched before.
Thai Yoga Massage — Reading a Body Without Words
Thai Yoga Massage flips the same idea around. Where Acro Yoga is about active, verbal communication between two people, Thai Massage is largely silent — assisted stretching and pressure work where you're learning to sense resistance, ease, and tension in someone else's body without them needing to tell you in words. It's a completely different kind of body-reading skill, and one that transfers directly into adjustments and assists during a normal class.
Why This Belongs in a Teacher Training
Neither workshop is about turning you into an Acro Yoga performer or a massage therapist. They're there because so much of good teaching happens through touch and non-verbal awareness — knowing how to give a safe, confident adjustment, reading whether a student is comfortable or bracing, creating a space where physical contact feels safe rather than awkward. Those are hard things to teach through lecture. They're much easier to build through hours of hands-on practice with a partner, which is exactly what these two workshops are.
Both are part of our 300-Hour Multistyle Training in Rishikesh, alongside the four core styles and the anatomy and teaching methodology modules.
